Free radicals – These are molecules or atoms with unpaired electrons that are highly likely to take part in a chemical reaction. Some free radicals have negative effects on human cells and have been linked to ageing and certain diseases.
Studies into oxidative stress caused by free radicals in the human body are at an early stage, but it is known that antioxidants play a key role in the body’s natural defence mechanisms. Antioxidants, including the phytochemicals and Vitamin C in TAHITIAN NONI® Juice, help the body by improving energy/exercise endurance, helping to maintain healthy cholesterol levels, supporting healthy/ proper immune system function and cardiovascular wellbeing.
The Vitamin C levels in the raw Noni fruit are very high. Food safety laws require Noni fruit juice to be pasteurized. As with orange juice, this will reduce the vitamin C content, due to this vitamin being very heat sensitive.
Orange juice products like many vitamin C sources have ascorbic acid added to increase their potency. Tahitian Noni International does not add back any compounds to its juice. Vitamin C is not the only significant antioxidant in Noni fruit/Noni juice. Other antioxidant phytochemicals are of course present in the juice, which are classified as flavonoids, lignans, and iridoids. These are called novel compounds, meaning that they are newly discovered.
